In numerous locations across Pittsburgh, bus stops are installed directly adjacent to high-speed roads lacking continuous sidewalks, leaving passengers with no safe path to or from public transit. These dangerous gaps align with broader state trends; a 2025 study by the Governor’s Highway Safety Association revealed that nearly two-thirds of pedestrian fatalities in Pennsylvania occur on roadways lacking sidewalks.
